L.A. Enterprise Retail and Wholesale Merchandise, based in Portsmouth, Dominica, held an essay competition this summer.
The competition was aimed at students who had been successful in the National Assessment Examination and intended to pursue study at either St. John’s Academy, Portsmouth Secondary School or The Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School.
Participants were required to submit an essay of 150 to 250 words highlighting their family, former school and future aspirations.
Three cash prizes were granted for first, second and third places – EC$700, $400 and $200.
First place was awarded to Keeyan Thomas of Picard, Portsmouth.
Second place went to Ulani Hilton of Calibishi and third place to J-Lan Victor of Thibaud Village.
