Eleven Cuban rafters have been quarantined in the Bahamas as a preventive measure against the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The rafters have been quarantined after being detained on a key in the Atlantic archipelago by the security forces.
The Bahamian authorities reported this Saturday that the officers from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force joined forces in operation to detain the group of Cubans at the beginning of the week.
The Royal Bahamas Defense Force was informed regarding the vessel in which the immigrants were travelling.
The information regarding the vessel was given by the officials of Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos (OPBAT).
The Cubans rafters were detained in Anguilla Keys, near the Sal Bank Key, towards the north of Cuba.
According to the Bahamas migration authorities, after the Cubans were arrested, they were separated from the RBDF crew and were examined by the Navy officers to determine if they were infected with COVID-19.
A medical team from the Bahamas Ministry of Health at Coral Harbor Base in Nassau also examined the rafters.
