The CARICOM has expressed full support for Andrew Holness, the reelected Prime Minister of Jamaica after he started his second consecutive term as the head of Jamaican government.
Irwin LaRocque, the secretary-general of the regional body, congratulated the Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) in a message, for its broad victory in the September 3 elections.
The message praises the people of Jamaica for ‘the successful conduct of the elections, even after the significant challenges which have been posed by the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to LaRocque, the margin of success for Holness and his party at the polls is an indication that the Jamaican population is satisfied with the leadership of Holness during the past term.
That victory in the polls gave the JLP 57.1 per cent of the total number of votes and 48 seats in the parliament, while the opposition NPP won only 37 per cent and 15 seats.
