Antigua and Barbuda is drawing closer and closer to the day of the elections, January 18, 2023. In light of this, the ABLP, led by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, is putting a lot of effort into their election campaign.
The political party has arranged community meetings, launch events and several other such events. Recently, The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party announced a highly comprehensive and detailed election manifesto detailing their plans for future governance in the country.

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party has detailed their plan for responding to climate change in its upcoming administration. The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party Recognizes that Climate Change and its impacts are real and that small island states must do their utmost to mitigate the harmful effects of the climate change crisis. In line with this, the ABLP government committed to working towards the following:
- They are reducing the country’s carbon footprint by 50 per cent by 2030 to become carbon neutral by 2040.
- The administration will Update the Building Code and enact measures that promote adopting renewable energy and backup storage systems for new homes.
- They will expand financial incentives to promote the adoption of renewable energy and energy-efficient practices and technologies across leading sectors.
- Promote climate-proof homes in Antigua and Barbuda to withstand category-five hurricanes.
- Invest in climate-proofing other critical infrastructure, such as clinics, hospitals, and schools, so that they can operate fully during and after a hurricane, severe rainfall events, extreme drought and excessive heat conditions.
- At the same time, the ABLP will continue its leadership role in advocating for climate justice, including compensation for loss and damage, and limiting the greenhouse gas emissions of major polluting countries that cause Climate Change.
