Cuba all set to welcome international tourists amid COVID-19

Under the health safety measures regarding the COVID-19 virus, Cuba is resuming the tourism season in November. The government has been taking front steps to mitigate the spread of the virus on the island. The pandemic had affected human lives badly across the globe.

On Friday, while speaking on the situation of Tourism during a pandemic, they said that the government would be looking forward to making appropriate changes in COVID-19 measures for meeting the various conditions of tourists. Minister said that this year Cuba would remain the safest tourism destination, and it was for tourists.

Due to the travel restrictions on the island till now, Cuba had only received 164,763 tourists from January to August. The restrictions are posed due to a spike in the COVID-19 virus. The government of Cuba currently announced that for the upcoming travellers, the pandemic border control measures would be relaxed. The relaxation would come into effect from November 15. Cuba would not be asking for any PCR COVID-19 test while on arrival. The certification of the vaccination would be accepted by the customs authorities in case they are issued from abroad.

The hotels in Havana, along with the coastal cities like Varadero and Cayo Coco, have been receiving a high number of international tourists.

For the reduction of the risk of the COVID-19 virus, the government have been prepared for the sanitary protocols. The information has been given by Maria del Pilar Macias, an official from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism.

The official said, “The new measures focus on monitoring symptomatic patients and temperature controls on arrival. Mask mandates and physically distancing guidelines remain at the hotel facilities.”

45,000 employees of the tourism industry have been completely vaccinated on the island. Cuban-developed three-dose vaccines have been used for vaccinating their full citizenship.
