Ten families in Constituency 4 have received keys to their new homes in Harry Phipps. The handover ceremony for the house keys was organised on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The handover ceremony will serve as a very important development for the government’s mandate to provide affordable homes to first time home owners in the country.  During the handover ceremony, the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency 4, Samal Duggins said,  “Housing can never simply be about concrete and steel. Housing is ultimately about our people. It is about dignity. It is about security. It’s about family. And above all, it’s about possibility.

Notably, the National Housing Corporation has shared that they have already handed over 9 homes to the residents of Constituency 4 in the last four years. The families are also being processed to start the construction of eight more homes to be delivered in the near future,

With the keys handover to ten families and first time homeowners which was done on Friday, October 2, 2026, the number of homes delivered to families in constituency 4 totals to 27.

The officials have shared that this number is crucial as the previous administration was able to deliver only approximately sixteen homes in Constituency 4 during almost seven years of being in office.

The number, according to Minister Duggins, is not simply for comparison. He has mentioned the number because an administration must ultimately be measured by the changes it makes in the lives of ordinary people.

In the same breath, Duggins said that their work with the housing delivery is not finished. They still have much work to do. The officials have shared that more families are still waiting for homes and the construction for more homes is in progress.

The Minister also appreciated the stakeholders who were involved in the construction of the homes. The construction workers, contractors, carpenters and other stakeholders are responsible for constructing these homes.

The Minister further said, today’s investment extends beyond concrete and steel.Through our SAFE program, each new homeowner has received a fruit tree which highlight’s the government’s mandate to make homes food resilient.

The Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Human Settlement also appreciated the initiative.and congratulated all the homeowners.
