St Kitts and Nevis concluded the inaugural edition of the St. Kitts and Nevis Inter-Island Primary School Athletic Championship on Sunday, May 3, 2026. The event was hosted at the Nevis Athletic Stadium and saw participation from top primary school athletes from the federation.
The event helped in the creation of a new platform for competition between the most promising talents of St Kitts and Nevis. The championship ended with Team Nevis becoming victorious having won 19 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
On the other hand, Team St. Kitts also delivered an impressive performance at the championship and finished with 15 gold, 20 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
Athletes from both the islands claimed Individual honours during the course of the championship. Rone Isles from Nevis won the Victrix Ludorum title with 30 points. Meanwhile, St. Kitts’s Calvert Gift won the Victor Ludorum crown with the same number of points.
Nevis Island Administration Minister of Sports, Troy Liburd, applauded the organisers for the successful staging of the championships. He also appreciated the collaborative effort behind the event. He appreciated the work of the Ministries of Education and Sports in Nevis, St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics, coaches, parents, and athletes for contributing to the competition’s success.
Liburd asserted that the championships serve as an important developmental platform for young athletes. He also highlighted thatinter-island competition is extremely important for the youngsters across the two islands to grow.
This event is extremely valuable as it provides another positive outlet for the youth of the country to showcase their talents.
The Nevis Island administration Minister of Sports, Troy Liburd, said, “The competition between the islands is both healthy and meaningful, offering our young people an opportunity to build friendships and mutual respect through sport. Bringing together the best of St. Kitts and the best of Nevis can only serve to strengthen our federal bonds.”
The Minister also congratulated Team Nevis for its overall performance. “I also wish to extend special congratulations to Team Nevis. I am immensely proud of their determination and the spirit with which they competed to secure victory,”
Liburd said the championships has surpassed expectations in its inaugural edition. He also hoped that it would become a permanent fixture on the Federation’s sporting calendar.
