The St Christopher and Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority has renamed waiting lounge at Transit Facility Shed 2 at the Deep Water Harbour. The new name of the waiting terminal is “Ike Tross Waiting Lounge”.
The name change has been done to give recognition to the life, dedication, and service of former Seaport Operations employee Ike Tross. The name change will also help in making sure that the people of the island feel valued and respected for their work.
The organization has issued a statement sharing the new development regarding the ceremony/ The event was attended by the SCASPA executives, staff, and several stakeholders, including the Minister of Tourism. The stakeholders from the Ministry of Tourism, including the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Tivanna Wharton was also present.
PS Wharton spoke about the significance of the renaming ceremony. She said that it was an opportunity for the organization to reflect on the contributions and the role Tross played within the daily operations of the port community.”
Tross has served the Port Authority as an Operator within the Seaport Operations Department for nearly two decades. He has served in his career for more than eighteen years.
During the course of this career, he has become a familiar and respected presence at the seaport. He is particularly loved within the facility where customers conduct business.
Chief Executive Officer of SCASPA delivered an address in the honor of the longstanding employee. He reflected on Ike Tross’ commitment and the impact of his service.
Colleagues also remembered Tross as a dedicated and dependable member of the Seaport Operations Department/. The people said that he approached his responsibilities with humility, consistency, and a strong sense of duty to the organization and its customers.
The ceremony was also attended by several members of the Tross family and representatives from key stakeholder agencies. According to the St Christopher and Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority, recognizing individuals who have contributed significantly to the port’s development and daily operations is an important part of preserving the organization’s institutional history.
