The Royal Caribbean officially added a new cruise ship to their cruise line. “Legend of the Seas” was officially handed over on Wednesday 10, June 2026. The Legend of the Seas is the third Icon Class ship of Royal Caribbean and will make its official European debut on 4 July 2026.
According to reports, the construction of the ship took nearly two years at the Meyer Turku Shipyard in Turku. To celebrate the achievement Royal Caribbean management hosted a ceremony in which more than 1,200 crew members and partners came together to mark the Royal Caribbean milestone.
Officials mentioned that the Legend of the Sea will continue the legacy of the Royal Caribbean in providing the best family vacation experiences to their customers. They also shared that the delivery of the ship reflects the Royal Caribbean long term collaboration with Meyer Turku.
The ceremony was led by Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO, Chief Executive Officer and Royal Caribbean International, President and CEO Michael Bayley were also present in the ceremony along with Casimir Lindhol, Meyer Turku CEO.
Moreover, officials of Royal Caribbean stated they will deliver Icon 5 in 2028, 6 and 7 in 2029 and 2030. They mentioned all these efforts will secure the group’s access to shipbuilding capacity through 2036.
Notably, the Journey of the Legend will start from Turku to Cadiz and in Cadiz Royal Caribbean will do final preparations before its official journey. This year in the summer season customers will be able to experience a 7-night Western Mediterranean cruise which departs from Barcelona and Rome. For the winter season the ship will move to Fort Lauderdale and customers can choose between 6-night Western Caribbean cruises or 8-night Southern Caribbean cruises.
Additionally, Michael Bayley, President and CEO Royal Caribbean announced the launch of the Legend of the Seas. He said, “We’re incredibly proud to introduce Legend of the Seas to vacationers and continue the legacy of the revolutionary Icon Class”
