The St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force SKNDF has announced the Dishonourable Discharged of Private Cordel Lake from the defence force yesterday July 16, 2026. The defence force mentioned that his Service No Longer Required while discharging him from duty due to disciplinary action
The forces shared that the action was taken in response to a serious incident which took place on Monday March 30, 2026. Notably, the SKNDF did not disclose the details of the incident in the announcement. According to reports, Private Cordel Lake attacked and grievously stabbed another soldier who sustained 10 stab wounds.
The SKNDF explained that an investigation was conducted in accordance with military law and disciplinary protocols after which forces charged Private Cordel Lake with two disciplinary offences. The offences were under the St. Christopher and Nevis Defence Force Act, Cap 19.14, which was recently amended on December 31, 2017.
The charges were:
- Conduct Prejudicial to Military Discipline
- Disgraceful Conduct
The SKNDF stated in the investigation including trial and evidence defence force Found Private Lake guilty in both charges. The SKNDF stated, “In Keeping with Section 30 of the St. Christopher and Nevis Defence Force Act, Cap 19.14 PTE LAKE was awarded Dishonourable Discharge from the SKNDF with immediate effect”.
Additionally, SKNDF shared that the force believes in taking action on any serious misconduct within the force. As it their duty to maintain the force security, obedience and Honour. The force said, “The SKNDF maintains a zero-tolerance policy for conduct that endangers the safety, discipline and integrity of the force”.
Further, the SKNDF explained that the action taken against Private Lake reflects the organisation’s commitment of ensuring that ethics and values be upheld within the force. The Organisation stated, “We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accountability , and care for all personnel”.
Notably, in the Dishonourable Discharged ceremony Private Cordel Lake dressed in civilian clothes and left the SKNDF base while crossing the two military personnel who stood with their backs turned.
