The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has provided an update on the ongoing housing projects in the country. The Prime Minister said that the National Housing Corporation has delivered more than 800 houses to the people of the island.
During the first roundtable of the year, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis announced that the people can take a step forward in securing homeownership through the various initiatives of NHC. The Prime Minister said that they can become homeowners through the NHC programme provided directly by the government.
Another programme which can support homeownership is the first-time homeowners programme. The people can also own their own homes through the programme in the National Bank of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister further explained that the reason why we have come up with multiple solutions is to cater to the needs of the people. He asserted that there are different people who have different visions to homeownership.
Some people will want to take up the NHC home and there are those who want to be facilitated to get a loan so they can build a home that they wish to build. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has shared that the people will get a very low interest rate at the National Bank.
He asserted that the interest rate will be one of the lowest in the whole region. They get concessions if they’re a first-time homeowner and that has facilitated a lot of homes being built in St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister also further added that they are on track to surpass the 1,000 homes being delivered. The speed of the housing project has also confirmed that the government is well on their way to deliver 2,000 homes to the people of the country.
The Prime Minister claimed that his administration has put in place a plan to deliver housing solutions to the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
