The Former Commissioner of Police, Austin Williams lauded the drew led Administration for the work that they have been doing for the development of the country in their tenure. The now retired commissioner of Police has claimed that this is the most progress that he has seen in the twin islands for a first term administration.
The retired Commissioner of Police made these remarks during the national Budget consultation hosted on October 31 at St Kitts Marriott. The Commissioner’s words are being seen as a major endorsement from the former public servant who has served the nation as a part of a workforce.
His appreciation is also prominent for the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party led administration as this is their first term in administration under the leadership of Dr Terrance Drew.
In the last three years, PM Terrance Drew’s government has achieved several milestones for the development of the country. For a first term government, Dr Terrance Drew’s leadership has brought about several positive developments to the country.
Under the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party leadership, people of St Kitts and Nevis saw their minimum wage raised twice in two years. Currently, St Kitts and Nevis offers the highest minimum wage to the people, when compared to the rest of the OECS.
Further, civil servants received an eight percent increase in their salaries under the Drew led administration. Budget boost wallet and other monetary support initiatives have been helping increase the income of the people.
The government has also, the last three years, provided debt relief to vulnerable families along with working on providing affordable housing to the people of the country. The government’s renaissance project was launched to speed up housing construction to provide affordable homes to people across the island nation
Additionally, significant progress has also been seen in the sectors of education, national security and governance. Several students have been pursuing their tertiary education at the CFBC college without paying tuition. Students have also been given financial support to pursue higher education in overseas institutions.
The healthcare sector has also seen significant progress in Dr Drew’s tenure. The developments and initiatives recorded are proof that the government is dedicated to serving and developing the country in all sectors.
