Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew wished the government and people of Guyana on the occasion of their 60th Anniversary of Independence. PM Drew wished Guyana on his social media page on Tuesday 26, May 2026.
In his post he shared that Guyana is not only developing their own communities but also taking collective initiative and participating in the progress of the overall Caribbean region. He even mentioned that as a part of the CARICOM family both islands shared the same vision and history. He said, “ Guyana continues to make remarkable strides, not only for its own people but also in advancing the collective progress of our Caribbean region. As a CARICOM family, our histories, aspirations, and futures remain deeply connected.
He further wished Guyana on the behalf of the St. Kitts and Nevis people, he stated, “On behalf of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, I wish all Guyanese at home and across the diaspora a joyful and meaningful Independence celebration”.
Denzil L. Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs also wished the Guyana government and communities on his social media page. He mentioned that Guyana marks their Diamond Jubilee and talked about both islands’ relationship and friendship. Douglas even wished for Guyana to grow with harmony.
“As you celebrate this significant Diamond Jubilee milestone, may your nation continue to prosper in unity, peace, strength, and progress. May the enduring bonds of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect between our countries and peoples continue to flourish for many years ahead.
Moreover, Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados even attended the Guyana 60th Anniversary Independence ceremony along with Guyana President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali. She also wished the Guyana communities on this special occasion through her social media.
Additionally, Guyana officially attained freedom from British colonial rule on May 26, 1966 and freed themselves from 150 years of rule by Great Britain.
