Twenty Six law enforcement officers in St Kitts and Nevis have completed the Regional Security System (RSS) Training Institute Basic Tactical Training Course 1 of 2026. The successful officers have received applause from the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew.
The Prime Minister of the country has shared that this achievement is a critical investment in national and regional security. The officers who were part of the training programme had been pulled from the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force. Some of the officers were also members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, His Majesty’s Prison, and the Customs and Excise Department.
The officials have shared the ceremony for the presentation ceremony of the presentation of certificates. The event was hosted at the National Heroes Park on April 17, 2026.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Drew delivered remarks at the event.
He congratulated the personnel who have completed the training. He also highlighted the importance of giving training to the frontline personnel.
PM Drew said that the training is necessary to meet the growing demands of modern security operations. He said that it would be unfair of the government to ask the officers to function at the highest order without providing the training essential for it.
He thus appreciated the course which gave the training to the officers from the oyal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, His Majesty’s Prison, and the Customs and Excise Department
The course highlights the commitment of the government to make sure that the people of the island who have been given the charge to protect are properly prepared for their charge.
The Prime Minister also added that the people of the country, men and women who are part of the law enforcement agencies, are our greatest asset in the fight for national security. He said that capacity building is a priority for the government. According to the Prime Minister of the country, “well-trained officers are the foundation of any effective security strategy.”
