Dr Terrance Drew has addressed the nation on the progress of his recovery from a stroke after he spent two weeks in the hospitals of St. Kitts, Martinique and Florida. The Prime Minister says that he is doing better and has assured the people that he is looking forward to returning to the island to lead the cabinet, attend parliament and work for the people again.
These words highlight the dedication of the Prime Minister to serve and support the growth of the country even as he recovers. Before his medical situation worsened to the point that he had to leave the country to seek treatment overseas, Dr Drew was working for and engaging with the people.
On August 29, 2026, Dr Drew made his last public appearance before his health crisis and even in that public appearance, he was seen with the children of constituency No 8, wishing them the best for the new school year.
In his most recent health update, Dr Drew stated that he met with the members of his federal cabinet to make sure that the country can continue to function ceaselessly even as Dr Drew deals with his health scare. The Prime Minister has been working tirelessly for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis since the day he took office in 2022. In four years, he has been seen personally overseeing development projects, growth of housing infrastructure, water supply or more.
Under his leadership, the people of St. Kitts and Nevis has seen growth in crucial and long awaited areas such as water infrastructure, construction of the Basseterre High School, Commissioning of the Basseterre Desalination Plant, construction and rehabilitation of roads which were neglected for several years.
The most important part is that as the country grows under his leadership, Dr Drew is not sitting in his office getting reports. He has been actively engaged with construction workers and contractors at the various work sites across St Kitts. He has regularly toured and inspected progress of construction at the various capital projects, housing projects across the island.
Every week or two, Dr Drew, accompanied by his team, made it a point to update the people of the country about every development that has taken place in the country.
Sources close to the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis opine that his health situation might have been a result of his tight and demanding work schedule.
The people shared that Dr Drew has never treated his obligations for the people of St Kitts and Nevis as a burden. He has continued to work around the clock throughout his tenure and even in the days leading up to his health issues.
Even as he continues to undergo rehabilitation and recovery, the Prime Minister has been monitoring the development in the country. He shared best wishes with the people of St Kitts and Nevis as the children started a new school year. Most recently, he also congratulated the 19 families of St. Peter’s who received keys to their homes in Stapleton under the NHC housing programme.
