After the news that she would be leaving Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), Petra Roach officially announced the new chief executive officer for the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA).
Roach had previously been with BTMI for the last 27 years, holding various positions, including the vice-president of marketing as well as sales for the United Kingdom, director of sales and marketing for the U.S., global head of markets as well as and interim CEO.
She successfully raised the Barbados name to its contemporary heights and has been effective in Barbados’ development in the airlift. The GTA said in the announcement, adding her in-depth knowledge of both marketing and the tourism industry to be welcomed to her new role.
The board of directors of the Grenada Tourism Authority said it was recognized the importance of international marketing expertise and power for the relationships and contacts within the tourism and airline industries for the CEO’s role.
In this position, Roach will also lead the destination that too through its pandemic recovery process, emphasizing innovative and competitive marketing campaigns. The GTA calls this “an exciting and game-changing time for Grenada’s tourism.”
It was the urgent need to have someone with not only the understanding of the Caribbean marketplace but with the skillset is there to help lead our unique destination through the recovery and start a new chapter for our tourism product.”
Added Roach: “I feel privileged to lead the team as GTA’s new CEO and be tasked with promoting forward GTA’s leader through these challenging, but equally exciting times. I also look forward to operating with all of the industry stakeholders, as we collectively chart a dynamic higher course for the end.”
