Mark Brantley Explores High-End Resort Development at Indian Castle in Nevis

The Nevis Island Administration is looking into entering in a collaboration with investors regarding the development of a high-end resort at Indian Castle. The Premier of Nevis announced the development during the Premier’s Press Conference on April 27. 

The Premier of Nevis has confirmed that they have been reaching out to multiple developers with the aim of bringing a major tourism project to the area. 

The authorities have shared they have been looking to develop the site of Indian Castle into a tourism site. The Premier said that they have been making efforts to develop the site, however, previous plans on the site could not be materialised.

Recent, efforts have been revived to see whether that property can be developed into a resort. The authorities are making efforts to make sure of that they can create something that is ultra-premium, very high-end.

He shared the vision for the development during the press conference, He said that they want to  construct another golf course, which would complement the island’s existing luxury tourism offerings, including the Four Seasons Resort Nevis.

Premier Mark Brantley said that one of the developers has already visited the site and further talks have been scheduled. The Nevis Island Administration has shared that they have met with Greg Norman. He is a former world number one PGA golfer, who recently toured the location with his team.

“Greg has been here with his team. They’ve looked at the site. They are having some follow-up discussions… and if they’re minded, then they will make a proposal to us on that site,” Brantley stated, while noting that no formal submission has yet been taken to Cabinet.

During this press conference, Premier Brantley also spoke about community projects and shared updates on their progress. Brantley informed the people details about the plans for the former Gingerland Library which is commonly referred to as Crony House.

According to the Premier of Nevis, they are conducting discussion within the NIA Cabinet about whether to restore a traditional library or pursue a more modern, technology-driven facility.

The Premier also gave an update to the people of the island on the Gingerland Public Market. He also said that he was aware of ongoing concerns about the current condition of the public market, including issues with the roof. He revealed that plans are in place to redevelop the market as part of a broader initiative to revitalise the surrounding area.

With the redevelopment, they seek to support local agriculture by providing a structured outlet for farmers to sell their produce.

Brantley announced the project is being coordinated through the Public Works Department, with detailed plans already under consideration as the NIA moves forward with its vision for the Gingerland community.
