Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, was invited to the annual KANA Mother’s Day Gala held in Bronx, New York on May 11, 2026. He was invited by the members of the St Kitts and Nevis diaspora to be a part of their mother’s day celebration.
The Minister took to his social media to share some images from the event on his social media. He also shared several details from the celebratory event and highlighted the importance of attending such events as a representative of the nation.
The event was attended by several members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Diaspora who are living in the diaspora. The Minister highlighted that the celebration was hosted with the aim of extending gratitude, love, and appreciation to the mothers.
The members of the St Kitts and Nevis Diaspora came together to celebrate their mothers and mother figures while highlighting the important role of mothers, matriarchs, and community builders in strengthening families and preserving cultural heritage abroad.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs had the opportunity to deliver a feature address at the celebration of mother’s day. In this address, Dr. Douglas talked about the immeasurable contribution of mothers in shaping families, communities, and nations. He also appreciated the mothers, mother figures and women of the country for their resilience, unity, and continued contributions of nationals living overseas.
He further noted that these women had a very important role to play in encouraging stronger collaboration and cultural connection among the diaspora.
The gala also recognized several distinguished honourees, including Dr. Constance Walwyn, Jay Thompson, Denise Bennett, and Denile Warner, for their leadership, service, and positive impact on the community. Special appreciation was extended to KANA President Euriel Williams and the Executive Members for their dedication and successful organization of the event, which continues to strengthen solidarity and national pride among Kittitians and Nevisians in New York.
