The Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew welcomed the latest cohort of the L.E.A.D Programme. The children from across the island are poised to start the internships with the various Ministries and Government Departments under the room.
The officials have shared that LEAD is a six-week internship programme aimed towards getting the students ready for a career in public service. The officials have shown that equips high school and first-year college students with valuable hands-on experience in governance, civic engagement, and leadership development.
The government has been organising the LEAD internships to give the youngsters an idea regarding the workings of the various departments of the government. The previous edition of the LEAD internships were highly successful and gave the high school seniors and college students an opportunity to learn about the working environment of the administration.
Prime Minister Drew met with the participating students at Government Headquarters and welcomed them to start their internships. At the government house, the Prime Minister and the youngsters engaged in brief discussions.
The talks centered on leadership, public service, and the opportunities that lie ahead for the children of the country. After this, the participating youngsters began their internship assignments.
The Prime Minister confirmed that each of the participant has been assigned to a ministry or government department as a part of the programme. Their appointment aligns with each individual’s career interests and aspirations.
The government has claimed that through these placements, students will gain practical workplace experience. They will have the opportunity to develop professional skills, and deepen their understanding of the operations of the public service.
The LEAD programme is designed to help in getting the next generation of leaders ready for national development. The officials have shared that the event is a programme conducted under the patronage of the Prime Minister’s Office.
