The Prime Minister of St kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew hosted the seven interns working with the office of the Prime Minister on Project LEAD to a special luncheon. The office of the Prime Minister has recently concluded the inaugural edition of Project LEAD after which the Prime Minister personally met with the participants.
He shared that the lunch was aimed towards appreciating the participants of the programme. He was proud of the achievement that the seven youngsters have clocked in during the six week internships.
The participants of the LEAD Project were stationed in the various ministries and offices associated with the Prime Minister’s office and other crucial parts of the administration of St kitts and Nevis. The aim of the programme is to make sure that the youngsters of St kitts and Nevis will be exposed to the workings of the various parts of the governance.
The Project LEAD, which stands for Leadership, Engagement, Aspiration, Development has already helped some of the youngsters gain a greater understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the administration. The Permanent Secretary in the office of the Prime Minster, Naeema Hazelle was also present at the luncheon hosted by Dr Terrance Drew.
The Prime Minister extended his gratitude to the participants who have completed the internship programme. He highlighted he was happy to see the participation of the seven youngsters.
They worked hard for the stations they were deployed to and showed curiosity and dedication of learning about the workings of the government. The youngsters reminded Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew that the youth of the country is full of talent.
During the luncheon engagement, Prime Minister asserted that the youngsters are not only the leaders of today but also the leaders of tomorrow. The youth is responsible for taking the country very far.
The Prime Minister was grateful to have gotten the opportunity to host these youngsters. With the success of the inaugural Project LEAD, there is hope that the administration is creating a future ready nation.
