Young cricketers from St. Kitts and Nevis are preparing to compete for places in the Leeward Islands Tropical Wave Under-19 squad ahead of the upcoming Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 50-over Championship.
Three players from Nevis have been selected for the final squad and departed for Antigua on Wednesday, July 1. Meanwhile, five players from St. Kitts departed for Antigua on Thursday, July 3 after being selected for the provisional Leeward Islands Tropical Wave Under-19 squad.
From Nevis, Amoree Jones, Rondre Daniel and Lythe Browne have been selected to represent the island in the Leeward Islands Tropical Wave Under-19 squad. Lythe Browne will join Jones and Danel at a later date.
The St. Kitts Cricket Association announced the names of the five selected players: Kunal Tilkoni, Eirette Richards, Jaheem Clarke, Lawshorn Bergan and Kasim Challenger. The association said the players were selected for the provisional squad based on their performances during recent player observation matches.
The Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 50-over Championship is scheduled to take place from July 9 to 23, 2026. The Leeward Islands Under-19 team will compete against Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados and the Windward Islands.
The St. Kitts Cricket Association also noted that the training and selection camp provides an opportunity for players to showcase their talent alongside some of the best young cricketers in the region. The association congratulated the players on their achievement and wished them success during the selection process.
The association said, “Congratulations to the player, their coaches, teammates and families on this outstanding achievement. We wish them all the best in Antigua and every success as they prepare for the championship”.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Denzil L. Douglas also congratulated the five St. Kitts cricketers on their achievement, wished them success, and encouraged them to make the nation proud.
