Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew opened the 3rd Annual Crime Prevention Summer Soccer Camp at the NCI Grounds. The Soccer Camp was opened on Monday with the aim of engaging the youngsters of the federation into productive activities.
The summer camp is aimed towards making steering the youth of the country in the right direction. Dr Terrance Drew has shared that he has been working with thee members of the community and other stakeholders to encourage the youngsters to steer clear of criminal activities.
The Prime Minister and his team at the Ministry of National Security have been working to create safer communities within St Kitts and Nevis. At the same time, they are creating more productive and proactive youngsters who can contribute to the nation.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Football Team was responsible for organising this summer soccer camp initiative. The RSCNPF is also dedicated to creating a safe and peaceful community. The initiative is aimed towards ending the children aged 7 to 17 in productive and meaningful activities during their summer months.
The organization shared that the soccer camp is less than just a summer activity aimed towards the youngsters. The Ministry of National Security and Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force are seeing the programme as a strategic tool for crime prevention.
The authorities believe that they can use the energy of the youngsters to drive positive development in the country with the help of sports. Children between the ages of 7 and 17 will be able to get expert training from football coaches.
The organisers of the Summer Soccer Camp have engaged international guest coaches from United Kingdom. These guest coaches will give the participating valuable advice from their international field experiences.
With the summer soccer camp which is taking place for three days will help the youngsters develop values like discipline, leadership, respect and teamwork. They will also get the chance to improve their skills on the field in football. The summer camp will make the youngsters into responsible players with their core values reinstated.
