The government of St Kitts and Nevis has presented 16 Nationals of the country with medals in recognition of their dedication to national building. The award ceremonies were hosted across two days, with the awardees of the Medal of Honor being conferred on eight deserving nationals on January 28. The second ceremony was hosted with the Companion of the Star of Merit being presented to another eight worthy individuals on January 29.
The award ceremonies were hosted at the Government House in the presence of the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew and Governor General Marcella Liburd. The investiture ceremony was also attended by other members of the community, government officials and leaders.
On January 28, 2026, the Medal of Honor was given to the following eight nationals of St Kitts and Nevis:
- Pastor Clive Saunders. The Pastor recieved recognition for his contributions in the field of Community Service and Religion
- Joyah Walters was recognised for the work in the field of Health and Medicine
- Lennox Warner was appreciated for his contributions to the field of Business and Entrepreneurship
- Washington J. Fraites was also conferred with the medal of Honor for his work in the field of Business and Entrepreneurship.
- Etsu Bradshaw-Caines was also given recognition for his contributions to Community Service
- Meredith Charles was given the award for her work in the field of Security and Defence
- Trevor Huggins was applauded for his work un the area of Sports
- Stedroy Douglas was also given his award for his work in the field of Sports and Community Service.
On the next day, another eight nationals of St Kitts and Nevis were given the honor of receiving the Companion of the Star of Merit:
- Dorothy Clarke was recognised for her dedicated service in the field of Education and Academia
- Dr. Jerome Thomas was recognized for his services to the field of Agriculture
- Goldwin Caines, MBE, was applauded and publicly conferred with the award for his work in the Public and Civil Service
- Lorozine E. Williams was also given the award for the services to the field of Education and Academia
- Lydia Claxton was recognised for her contributions to the field of Sports
- Pastor Leroy Benjamin was applauded for his work in Religion and Spiritual Leadership
- William V. A. Hodge was also given the honor of the Companion of the Star of Merit for his work in the field of Education and Academia
- Franklyn Dorset was lauded for his work in the areas of Law & Justice and Sports.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew extended his best wishes to all the nationals who were recognised during the ceremonies. He thanked them for their services to the island nation and its people.
Dr Drew said that in many cases, the work done by some nationals of the country may not get visibility and value. However the award ceremonies reaffirm the idea that the quiet and excellent service of the people also matters.
According to Dr Drew, Nation Building is much about perseverance and constant hardwork of the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
