The St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee has partnered with the St Kittts Band Association to introduce a new initiative in the 54th edition of the Sugar Mas. The year end Carnival of St Kitts and Nevis will be the beginning of the Sugar Mas 54 Band Ambassadors initiative. ‘
The national carnival of St Kitts and Nevis has been marked by music, culture, and creativity. The band Ambassadors initiative is expected to honour the legacy of music and creativity while highlighting the best of the talent in the bands of the country.
The programme has been made possible with the collaboration between the SKNNCC and the St Kitts Band Association. The officials have shared that seven bands which are part of the St Kitts Bands Association picked 7 Sugar Mas Band Ambassadors who will represent their band throughout the carnival.
The seven bands who constitute the St Kitts Band Association include:
- Nu Vybes Band
- Upset Squad Band
- Grand Masters Band
- Kollision Band
- Small Axe Band
- ASAP Band
- Xcess Band
The Nu Vybes has chosen popular Kareem Herbert as their ambassador and representative during the Sugar Mas 54. The Upset Squad Band has picked Chaviss Isaac as their representative for the carnival season.
The Kollision Band and the Grand Masters Band have chosen to elect Jermain Clarke and Casim Pemberton to represent both bands respectively. The Small Axe Band and ASAP Band have chosen Rolston Wigley and Brandon Cranstoun to be their representatives. Finally Veshawn Bolus is the representative from the Xcess Band.
All the ambassadors have been chosen for their talent, popularity and their capacity to drive and entertain and crowd with their talent.
The band ambassadors will be celebrating the spirit of the carnival and bringing entertainment to the locals as well as travellers who come to the island to witness the vibes of Sugar Mas. The National Carnival Committee has shared that they are delighted to see the initiative come to fruition during the 2025-26 edition of the Sugar.
The band and music is an extremely important part of the St Kitts and Nevis Carnival. The officials have shared that it is crucial for the people of the country to keep their history and their tradition alive as they move forward. This initiative is expected to become a regular part of the sugar mas calendar starting this year.
