Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis and Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, has distributed 900 backpacks and school supplies under his initiative, believe in yourself, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
He took to his Facebook account to share an update regarding the same, terming the ceremony as “small yet significant.”
He expressed his gratitude to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr Barrett and Principal Education Officer Ms Claxton, their team, and the Head Teachers who had also attended the event.
The backpacks and the school supplies were shared under Brantley’s Believe in Yourself Initiative and were meant for primary school students of his constituency (Constituency #9). In the post shared by the Premier of Nevis, he stated that students and parents could collect the backpacks and supplies during the day on September 7, 2021,
The Premier stated in his Facebook post:
A small but significant ceremony this afternoon as I presented nearly 900 backpacks and limited school supplies to the primary schools in my constituency. Thank you to the PS Education Mr Barrett and PEO Ms Claxton and their team, and the Head Teachers who also attended.
The backpacks and supplies are part of my #BElieveinYOUrself initiative, started a few years ago, which encourages our children to be themselves and to believe in themselves. Backpacks and supplies can be picked up at the various schools during the day tomorrow by the students and their parents and guardians.
I am truly grateful that God has made this donation possible. Praise be to God.
Premier Brantley has restarted the Believe in yourself initiative after a hiatus of two years, owing to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic. He had shared the news of continuing the BElieveinYOUrself Initiative via his Facebook earlier the month prior. He had promised to distribute school supplies well before the new school session started.
Premier Brantley has always been committed to the upliftment of the students and youth of Nevis, especially in his constituency.
