President of Haiti Jovenel Moïse assassinated has been at his private home, while is wife is has been hospitalized amid political instability in the country.
The interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph announced the death of the Prime Minister and stated that he was now in charge of the country. Joseph said a group of unknown people invaded his private residence and killed the president while his wife is seriously wounded in the attack.
Moise had been ruling Haiti, the most impoverished country in the Americas, by declaration, after parliamentary elections due in 2018 were lingered in the wake of conflicts, including on when his term ends.
In addition to the national crisis, kidnappings for ransom surged in recent months, further displaying the increasing influence of armed gangs in the Caribbean nation.
