The legal adviser to Haiti’s President Jovenel Moise, Reynold Georges, has resigned.

He claimed that the policy which is being currently followed by the Haitian administration is not in line with his ideals and his convictions.

Georges, said to Moise in a July 17 letter that it is clear that despite his title of Counsellor for Political and Legal Affairs of the President of Haiti, his advice in this area is neither followed nor sought.

He said, as a result, his current role as the legal adviser makes him obliged to defend the orientations which he often does not approve and put himself in as a lawyer and as a politician.

Georges added that his determination to assist and serve the President was real, but his loyalty would remain above all to the Haitian people and to the Haitian constitution.

Consequently he said that had the honour to inform the President by the letter that he is resigning from his current post of councillor, which he had officially held so far in the President’s Cabinet.

The resignation came in less than 2 days after Max Attys, the Youth and Sports Minister tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe, indicating that he was stepping down from his post even though he did not think of himself as a failure.
