Another locally-owned business has closed its doors in St Kitts and Nevis.

After much speculation, Ashburry’s Duty Free, which has been serving the St. Kitts and Nevis market for some 25 years closed its doors leaving several employees out of work and increasing the already high unemployment rate.

The company had been the Authorized Dealers for some 50 brands in the perfume and related cosmetics lines.

Last October, it was reported that Ashburry’s might soon close its doors as it appeared to be winding down its operations one week after the St Kitts outlet of Subway, a US restaurant franchise that sells salads and submarine sandwiches closed its doors on the corner of Cayon Street and Victoria Road. Ten employees at Subway lost their jobs.
