Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has announced that the government is planning to establish a Youth Economic Empowerment Bureau. The announcement was made during the recent edition of the Prime Minister’s roundtable.
During the media engagement, Dr Drew said that the initiative will support the nation’s growing demand for services. The government has announced the intention to support the emergence of new businesses led by youngsters.
Under the Youth Economic Empowerment Bureau initiative, the youth of the country will be given targeted support. The young entrepreneurs who are working towards opportunities in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and the orange economy.
The bureau will be working directly with the youngsters who are interested in pursuing opportunities in these sectors of the economy.
Dr Drew has shared that the youngsters will be given the support they require to capitalize on expanding economic opportunities. The administration will help in making sure that the youth of the country are given the resources and guidance that they need to build sustainable enterprises.
During his interaction with the members of the media, he also talked about the growing potential within the Yachting Industry. He said that the Safe Harbour Marina has identified a range of skills and support services which they need to sustain operations at the facility.
The youth of the country can help in delivering the services that are needed. The entrepreneurs who receive the appropriate training and support will be able to access the opportunities within the Yachting Industry.
The Prime Minister said that they will be getting their youngsters ready to access these opportunities and provide support. The youth of the country will be given the opportunity to access grants from government and soft loans to start their businesses.
