St Kitts and Nevis Police are searching the driver who abandoned a vehicle after jumping checkpoint and escaped the police chase.

On November 10, a vehicle sped recklessly through the police checkpoint without stopping on the main road in the La Valley area at about 11:15 p.m.

An officer had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by the vehicle. Cops set a chase, while the driver continued the run. Cops opened return fire after hearing the sounds what they believed to be gunshots. The vehicle came to a halt after a tire was blown out by an Officer. The suspect jumped from the vehicle and made his escape in the dark into a nearby bushy area. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
