St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew along with his cabinet ministers, convened a joint meeting with the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) Cabinet, headed by Premier Mark Brantley on March 17. The aim of this meeting was to foster greater collaboration and discuss ways to strengthen ties between the two administrations.
This meeting was held on the sidelines of the ongoing Green Climate Fund (GCF) Regional Dialogue in St Kitts and Nevis at the Park Hyatt.
After a long discussion on several matters both the chair leaders addressed the media and ensured the residents and citizens of the twin island nation that both the administrations are working collaboratively in order to benefit the people of the federation.

PM Drew during the meeting highlighted that the continuous dialogue and regular policy updation is the way to potential transformation
“It is obvious that there would always be some level of political differences, but we don’t always have to disagree on everything. There are some things that really can bring us together as a people,” stated Dr Drew.
Highlighting the ongoing transformative projects including the geothermal project PM Drew stated that on completion the project could fundamentally reshape the Federation’s economic landscape, providing a reliable, renewable energy source that would reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower energy costs, and create new economic opportunities.
Premier Mark Brantley stresses on the power of continuous dialogue
Mark Brantley during the meeting stressed on the importance of continuous dialogue between the two administrations. He stated “Nothing in this world is ever achieved without the ability to communicate.”
Premier Brantley stated that dialogue is important when there are problems, but even in good times, dialogue remains essential. It is through open discussion that we build understanding, foster cooperation, and ensure that we are working in the best interests of all our people.
It is to be noted that both the leaders had a meeting earlier on Thursday as well, to discuss the future of geothermal energy in St Kitts and Nevis with IRENA and an Icelandic delegation.
Also, to promote transparency and ensure fair allocation of revenues PM Drew and Premier Brantley have received a recommendations report by the World Bank which would help both the islands to solve this issue of fair revenue sharing.
During the meeting several cabinet ministers from both the islands were present and held fruitful discussions on strengthening inter-island cooperation, climate resilience, economic diversification, and national security.
