Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew marked a major step in the government’s efforts to strengthen the nation’s most important economic program Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) by officially opening its new headquarters on Monday, March 10th, 2025.

The new CIU office is located at the Lime Kiln Commercial Development and is constructed to strengthen the Unit’s role on an international level. PM Drew said that the main reason behind the development of this world-class facility is to create a positive surrounding to encourage growth.

The opening ceremony was attended by several key government officials, business partners, and CIU staff.

During the opening ceremony, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis highlighted the significance of CIU in enhancing the Federation’s financial stability. PM Drew further restated the government’s commitment in transforming St Kitts and Nevis to a more modernized twin island nation.

He said that they cannot ask people to perform at high levels without having the right environment. PM Drew further stated that this was chosen through a transparent and open mechanism to make sure that it becomes an environment where international business can be conducted.

PM Drew acknowledges decisions undertaken by CIU

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew acknowledged the work done by the CIU leadership and staff in maintaining the Federation’s international reputation and appreciated the decisions made by them in the last few months that helped stabilize the program and ensured its long-term success.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew underscored the important measures taken at the CIU to reinforce good governance, risk and compliance, and customer service. It is to be noted that these steps have been significant in continuing confidence among global partners and regulatory bodies.

According to PM Drew, safeguarding CIU is really just protecting St Kitts and Nevis, particularly at this point in their present economic and financial history.

PM Drew stated during the ceremony that their visa access to international partners was under serious threat, and quick action had to be taken in order to preserve that while balancing the business of the CIU.

Government’s vision for CIU

PM Drew outlined the government’s vision for the CIU is to equip the unit’s staff with the latest training and technology to improve the efficiency and service delivery.

He said that the staff must be provided with world-class training and latest technology to offer good customer service and grow the business. 

PM Drew added that they are on their way to become the best office in the citizenship-by-investment industry.
