A significant investment has been made in the newly renovated Charlestown Preschool by the Nevis Island Administration (NIA). These new upgrades have been made to provide a more modernized and better learning environment for the children of Nevis.
Notably, the updates made to the Preschool included a brand new roof, expansion of the kitchen, bathrooms, and offices, as well as more storage space. All these improved the infrastructural issues, making it safer and more functional space for students and staff.
This significant upgrade of this educational facility is a testament of the administration’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure, ensuring that future generations benefit from a more advanced learning experience.
Grand reopening ceremony
The school reopened its doors last week with an opportunity for a grand reopening ceremony, marked by a ribbon – cutting event, which was attended by esteemed guests, including Deputy Governor-General Hyleeta Liburd, Early Childhood Development Coordinator and former Charlestown Preschool Supervisor Brenda Smithen-Williams, and current Supervisor Samika Warner.
Importance of investing in early childhood education
Mark Brantley, the Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance, also paid a visit to the school. He interacted with the children and emphasized the importance of investing in early childhood education. He further said that this renovation reflects the dedication and passion of the government towards providing quality education to the children.
A valuable investment
Minister of Education, Senator Troy Liburd, was pleased with the NIA approving the upgrades for the preschool. He said, “This was a worthwhile investment. It was money well spent.” While the yard still had some work remaining, he had been overjoyed at how the administration made positive changes at the Charlestown Preschool.
A Legacy of Excellence
The Minister of Public Works and Parliamentary Representative for the St Paul’s Parish applauded the school’s history, emphasizing the remarkable 41 years of history the school had.
