Verchilds University in St Kitts recently organized an event to acknowledge the achievements made by the alumni, students and community of Verchilds in various fields during 2024 and the event was also joined by Minister Samal Duggins.
The event took place to celebrate the excellence shown by the university’s students in sports, music, pageantry, culture, and educational areas over the previous year.
This celebration was held to showcase the excellence of Verchilds University in creating excellence in different fields, while also challenging its students to grow and succeed.
Achievements of Verchilds University in 2024
- Education – The class of 2024 achieved a great score with 90% + pass rate and one of the teachers was awarded the 2024 National Teacher of the Year.
- Sports – Verchilds High U14 team won 2nd place in the Jones group of Companies Ltd U14 Football Competition. The Montraville Farms CleanRite Old Road Jets succeeded with Kieth Gumbs U17 Tier 2 Champions, FA Cup Champions, Council Cup Champions, and 2nd place in the Elvis Star Brown Women’s League.
- Music – Verchilds students did great as they achieved success in music competitions, including Senior Calypso Monarch, Groovy Soca Monarch 1st Runner-up, Power Soca Monarch Winner, Power Soca Monarch 2nd Runner-Up, 1st Runner-Up Road March, and Road March Winner to name a few.
- Pageantry – Students won prestigious titles such as Miss Teen St. Kitts and Nevis 2024-2025, Miss Caribbean Talented Teen 2023-2024, and 1st Runner-Up in Miss St. Kitts and Nevis.
- Culture – The university also celebrated their Cultural Ambassador for St Kitts and Nevis.
Minister Samal Duggins visit to the university
Minister of Sports and Creative Economy, Samal Duggins also attended the event to encourage the students and also celebrated the milestones made by the students and alumni of the institution.
He also shared a post on his Facebook page referring to Verchilds High as the best school, and that he is proud of the institution and of its students.
Minister Duggins further shared some glimpses from the event, in which he was enjoying with the students during various activities, showing how much he enjoyed his time with the students.
