Basseterre, St Kitts: The Sapphire Princess, from Princess Cruise Line, has made its inaugural call at the shores of St Kitts marking the official start of the 2024-2025 Cruise Season. The ship arrived at the Port Zante and offered the passengers the time to explore the rich culture of the island.

The Sapphire Princess, a 2670-passenger vessel arrived on the October 18, 2024 and docked at the Port Zante at 8 in the morning.

Marsha Henderson, the Minister of Tourism, officially welcomed the cruise ship that has arrived in the Caribbean for the very first time. The passengers and the crew were also welcomed with warmth and excitement.

Minister Henderson expressed her passion and enthusiasm for the arrival of the Sapphire Princess and underscored the unique experiences that have been awaiting for the passengers.

The tourism minister stated that it is her job on the behalf of the government and the people of the nation to welcome the cruise and its passengers to the beautiful island nation.

“We do have a lot more to offer than the sun and the sand. We have a destination filled with culture, history, and untouched sites. The destination is known for its authentic experiences and I hope that you would find some time, Captain, to venture deeper and explore St. Kitts,” she said.

Captain Paolo Ravera, the captain in charge of the Sapphire Princess, warmly welcomed Minister Marsha Henderson and her team on the ship and expressed pleasure in leading this vessel. He stated that the Caribbean is a favoured destination for many travellers.

The event was also attended by the key tourism and port officials including CEO of the St Kitts Tourism Authority Kelly Fontelle, COO of the St Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority Calvin Duggins, and Port Operations Supervisor of the Delisle Walwyn Group of Companies Jamal Pitt.

As St Kitts continues to be a cruise favoured destination, the arrival of the Sapphire Princess expects this Cruise Season to be a busy and successful cruise season.
