Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: The Minister of Public Infrastructure, Konris Maynard has announced job openings for people at the new Desalination plant that is currently under construction. The individuals can apply for jobs till May 8, 2024.
The individuals are called out to apply for vacant vacancies in different departments. Following is the list of vacancies, along with required duties and responsibilities:
Plant Operator
The Human Resource Management Department on behalf of the Ministry of Public infrastructure invites candidates for the position of Plant Operator. The person will carry out the responsibilities of operation, monitoring and maintenance of the plant.
The individual has to examined that the desalination plant is producing clean and potable water. The duties include the followings:
– Supervising the execution of the equipment
– Overseeing routine maintenance
– Water quality analyses
– Necessary reclamations in technical issues
– Maintain safe and regulatory standards
Qualifications and Experience:
- The individual must have a diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Plumbing and Pipefitting from any Technical College.
- Minimum two years of experience in the Mechanical or Water Industry is mandatory
Knowledge & Skills:
- One should must have good health and excellent physical fitness.
- The working hours might be flexible including nights, weekends or holidays, so the person should be willing to work on odd or even hours.
- The Applicants are supposed to be available 24/7, in case if the emergency arises.
- Candidate must have good command of the English language.
- The person should have their hands on Microsoft Word and Excel
- One should have to be good with the targets and tight deadlines
- The Applicants are not allowed to disclose any information regarding the material or the situations encountered on the job
The salary will range between K22-K27 ($41,196-51,180) per annum.

Assistant Plant Operator
The candidates are invited to apply for the vacancy of Assistant Plant Operator. The individual will be responsible for the efficient production of clean water. He/ she will ensure the smooth working of desalination plant.
The person is supposed to work closely with the senior operators and he/she must be willing to learn and execute the operational procedures effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The individuals should secure the tools and equipment given to the crew members/
- To facilitate the high-quality drinking water, they should operate valves, pumps, filters, motors and other related machinery.
- Maintenance of work by supervising and assisting the execution of machinery.
- They are supposed to start and shut down the equipment, adjustment of flow rates.
- They should keep the accurate record of readings of meters, gauges and scales.
Qualifications and Experience:
- The person must have a secondary school certificate or a diploma in Mechanics, Pipefitting and Plumbing from a Technical College
- Two years of experience is required in Water or Mechanical Industry to apply for this position
The salary will range between K10- K21 ($24,516- $39, 204) per annum.
