St Kitts Health Promotion Unit (HPU) has declared the results of the World Obesity Day Essay Writing competition. The event was hosted on March 4 with the aim to commemorate the 2024 World Obesity Day.
The Ministry of Health Collaborated with the ICDF Taiwan Technical Mission to organize the essay writing competition. The event was open for students from across the island nation.
The officials have shared that they received several entries for the essay competition from the youngsters of the country. Talking about the success of the initiative, the organizers said that they read through many 500-word essays.
The theme of the Essay Writing contest was, “Conquering Obesity Through Prevention.”
After a thorough review of the submissions, three young talents stood out with their innovative ideas and inspiring words.
The winners of the Essay writing competition were given certificates commemorating their victory. The 1st Place was claimed by Journey Clarke from Beach Allen Primary School. The organizers of the event claimed that his essay captivated the judges.
At the same time, the essay was selected to be published in the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) bulletin.
The 2nd Place was claimed by Tahjaun Sargeant from George Moody Stuart Primary School. The officials noted that the youngster’s essay had compelling insights. It highlighted the importance of prevention and awareness in combating obesity.
3rd Place was claimed by Darny’e Williams from Verchilds High School. The youngster impressed everyone with a thoughtful analysis on tackling obesity through early intervention and education.
World Obesity Day is celebrated annually on March 4. The aim of the event is to come together and address the obesity crisis that the world is facing. The Health Promotion Unit wants to educate the youngsters of St Kitts about health concerns.
Notably, a large population across the globe is struggling with the issue of Obesity which has affected various aspects of their lives. The international healthcare authorities believe that Obesity is an international problem that must be addressed through collective action.
The St Kitts Health Promotion Unit is making efforts to spread awareness among the youngsters. The Essay Writing Competition was hosted with the aim of encouraging youths to express their views on addressing the crisis on World Obesity Day.
