Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The St Kitts and Nevis leaders extended congratulations to all the women of the nation and across the world on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The leaders acknowledged the excellent contributions made by the women in the different sectors.
The leaders appreciated the fearless and multi-tasking roles played by women and highlighted the invaluable contributions of women in their respective fields.
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew took to his official Facebook account and extended wishes to all those women who have been constantly breaking the barriers of stereotypes and taking measures to transform the nation into a better world.
“Empowered women empower the world. Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women who continue to break barriers, inspire change, and shape a future where equality knows no bounds,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
Minister for Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas also extended blessings, joy, love and wishes to all the Nation’s women who are working in different sectors of the nation to enhance St Kitts as a developed nation.
Minister Denzil Douglas said, “Our Nations Thrive on Women, they are our grandmothers, Mothers, Queens, Sisters, Daughters, Aunts, Cousins, Doctors, Presidents, Nurses, Teachers, Lawyers, Ministers, Senators, Farmers, Secretaries, Students, Friends, Care-Takers, Meal Providers, Hair and Beauty Technicians et al and they make wonderful Companions.”
Minister of Agriculture, Sports, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Samal Duggins celebrated the remarkable contribution of women in sports. He also mentioned that every woman deserves a seat at the table whether it’s politics, business or sports. The women are elevating in every field and taking their respective sectors to greater heights with their exemplary services.
While talking about the women as a leader, Minister Duggins noted “It’s time to move beyond the conservative mentality and promote more Queen bees in leadership roles.”
Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis emphasized women as problem solvers who play all their roles effectively and efficiently.
“This year, I’m especially proud to celebrate the women in our federation who command leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. These women are problem solvers, wives, mothers, homemakers, financial experts, and decision-makers whose wise counsel helps to sustain our nation,” added Dr Hanley.
