Prime Minister and Health Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew shared some major glimpses of progress at the JNF General Hospital earlier on Saturday.

While highlighting these advancements at the Centre, PM Drew underlined that the Ministry of Health continues to make significant strides in delivering improved healthcare to the people.

The Ministry has hired a number of professional Medical specialists team for treating people, which at the same time marks history at the JNF.

These Specialists introduced at the JNF General Hospital are as follows:

– An Endocrinologist (diabetes and hormone doctor)
– A neurologist (brain and nerve doctor)
– 4 Internists
– 3 Anesthesiologists
– 2 Pediatricians
– 3 Surgeons
– 4 Gynecologists
– 7 Radiographers (highest number ever)
– Psychologist reinstated to strengthen mental health care

Further, PM Drew also stressed that for the first time, they have a Kidney Transplant Program at JNF Hospital, launched in November 2023. This Transplant services are being provided to improve the quality of life of patients. This marks a major advancement at their centre.

The JNF General Hospital also has HR personnel as part of the staff. It also has the most equipment ever at the same time in its history.

These well-equipped technologies include:

– New Anesthesiology machines
– New fluoroscopy machine
– Highly advanced ultrasound machines that can also perform heart ultrasounds
– New medicine cabinet
– New CT Scan machine purchased
– Highest number of dialysis machines
– Electroencephalogram (EEG) machine to test the brain.

JNF Hospital, St Kitts and Nevis

The Medical Centre has also undertaken several other transformations since its construction, These improvisations are as follows:

– Refurbishment of the morgue
– ⁠Repair of the hospital roof to end years of leaking
– ⁠Refurbishment of the hospital foyer
– ⁠The addition of ACs on the wards for the very first time
– ⁠Purchase of heavy-duty washing machines to enhance the availability of linens

Previously, the PM also extended his thankfulness towards the medical technicians from Puerto Rico for their assistance in upgrading the anesthesiology equipment at JNF General Hospital.

He lauded their contributions and expressed his commitment towards the nation’s well-being. He also informed that more such upgrades are coming on the way to accreditation.

People expressed their gratitude and hope towards PM Terrance Drew for his efforts at advancing and refurbishing the JNF. “Good Healthcare is wellness for the Federation and prosperity for all people. Awesome! Big up yourself our humble servant and good Samaritan for all you are doing.
