The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, congratulated the St Kitts and Nevis-based World Champion in Swimming, Troy Nisbett for marking the impressive performance at the World Aquatics Championship via his official social media handle on Friday.
The World Aquatic Championship is being held in Doha, Qatar from February 2 to 18, 2024. As per the information, Nisbett competed in the men’s 50m Freestyle and secured himself at the 8th position after completing the race with CR 29.23.

Notably, the tournament featured the largest number of athletes in comparison with previous events, in which more than 2,600 participants hailed from 201 countries. It is the pre-qualifier event to select the athletes for the summer’s Paris Olympics Games.
The Department of Nevis marked this significant achievement for the nation and introduced Nisbett officially. They added, “One thing that always stands out is the impact of first steps. St.Kitts-Nevis, we are present at the World Aquatics Championship in Doha, Qatar. Introducing Ambassador Troy Nisbett”.
The 15-year-old Troy Nisbett started his swimming training at 6 years old with Coach James Weekes.
The two athletes, Troy Nisbett and Jennifer Harding are representing the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis in the World Championship 2024 in Doha, Qatar. These athletes are being led by James Weekes, National Coach of St. Kitts Nevis Aquatics Federation and President Eldon Thomas.
Troy Nisbett is participating in the 50m freestyle in the championship. On the other hand, Jennifer Harding is competing in the 50m and 100m backstroke events.
Following the Championship, Nisbett and Harding and Skyla Connor will also be representing St. Kitts and Nevis at the Carifta games to be held in the Bahamas from March 28th to April 7th, 2024.
