The government of St Kitts and Nevis under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, has announced plans to establish a dedicated Civil Service Institute.

This initiative aims to enhance the proficiency and professionalism of the Civil Service in the country. The announcement was made during a session of the Federation Parliament on October 30, 2023.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew emphasized the importance of this endeavour, noting that concerns have been raised over certain aspects of the Civil Service in the past. The government’s response is to invest in the continuous development of Civil Servants to ensure they can provide the highest standards of service to the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis.

The Civil Service Institute is envisioned to be the centre for comprehensive training, covering essential areas such as customer service, leadership, ethics, and public administration, among others. The government believes that targeting training and development programs will equip Civil Servants to meet the evolving needs of the nation.

“We believe that through targeted training and development programmes, we can ensure our Civil Servants are better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our nation. This institute will play a pivotal role in preparing our Civil Servants, ensuring they deliver the highest standards of service to the people of St Kitts and Nevis who so rightly deserve it,” these were the words quoted from the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis Honourable Dr Terrance Drew

Details about the institute’s establishment and operations will be disclosed in due course as the government demonstrates its commitment to improving the capabilities and effectiveness of the Civil Service in the service of the nation. This initiative represents a significant step toward enhancing the Civil Service’s performance and professionalism in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Prime Minister Drew has extended his appreciation to all the stakeholders who has contributed to the initiative of the establishment of the dedicated Civil Service Institute.
