The St Christopher and Nevis Police Force has started investigating a possible hit-and-run incident. The federation of St Kitts and Nevis has been witnessing a rise in road accidents. The issue has led to increased concern for the people as well as the law enforcement authorities of the country. The increased number of road accidents have increased the risk on not only the lives of the drivers, but also those of the padestrians.
Accordingly, The authorities have shared several tips and strategies that the drivers can implement to prevent themselves from encountering a potentially life-threatening situation. One of these suggestions that the authorities gave to the drivers was to check their speed while operating their vehicles.
The most recent suspected hit and run case took place in the area of New River, Nevis. The reports suggest that the accident took place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, around 7AM, The victim of this incident was an elderly woman. The authorities have identified the victim as Florence Ella Merchant of Hickmans.
Ella Merchant was found injured on the side of the road by a passer by. Upon this discovery, Merchant was transported to the Alexandra Hospital where the doctors thoroughly examined her. The reports further suggest that the victim was found to have sustained a broken arm, a broken hand, and numerous cuts and bruises.
The police authorities have claimed that the victim is currently in stable condition. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) is seeking the public’s assistance in the swift resolution of this matter. As such, anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the nearest Police station soonest.
The people of St Kitts and Nevis have expressed their concern over the increased number of accidents in the federation. Recentky, another accident involvig a two wheeler and a four wheeler vehicle was reported near the Joseph N France General Hospital. The accident in question was said to be very serious and possibly fatal.
