The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, led a delegation of his Cabinet ministers, the speaker of the National Assembly, to the official inaugural ceremony of the Nevis Island Assembly. This is the first time in the history of St Kitts and Nevis that a prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has attended the inaugural sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly.
The trip is a part of Dr Terrance Drew’s mandate to bridge the gap between the two sister islands. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis and the Premier of Nevis share a warm and cordial relationship. This deep and friendly relationship is evident in the fact that Premier Mark Brantley accompanied Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew on his first official overseas visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan). Additionally, he was also invited to the Prime Minister’s new Year gala on January 7, 2022.
The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister and his cabinet for attending the opening ceremony of the Nevis Island Assembly. He took to his social media account to call the gesture of Dr Drew historic. He thanked the Prime Minister and members of his cabinet for gracing the Nevis Island Assembly for the first sitting.
Further, the Premier of Nevis shared some glimpses of the opening ceremony. He announced that the opening was historic as this was the first time a woman was sworn in as the president of the Nevis Island Assembly.
