The Governor-General, Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton GCMG, CVO, QC, JP, LL.D, has issued a Notice in respect to the Official Mourning Period in honour of Ambassador His Excellency Vance Winkworth Amory J.P.’s demise.

He has stated that the Official Period of Mourning in respect of Ambassador His Excellency Vance Winkworth Amory, J.P. be Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 to Saturday, April 30th, 2022, both days inclusive, by virtue of the powers vested in him. As a result, the general public should be directed properly.

Besides this, on Tuesday he Nevis Island Assembly hosted a special sitting in honour of former Premier of Nevis, the late Ambassador Vance Amory.

Parliamentarians from St. Kitts journeyed to Nevis to participate in Tuesday’s event in show of respect for the late Mr. Amory.

Among those in attendance were Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris; Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. SHawn Richards; Hon. Jonel Powel, Hon. Lindsay Grant; Hon. AKilah Byron-Nisbett; Hon. Wendy Phipps; Cabinet Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Huggins, as well as Leader of the Opposition Dr. Denzil Douglas; Hon. Jeffrey Hanley, and the nation’s only living National Hero, Dr. the Right Excellent and Right Hon. Kennedy Simmonds.

Many in attendance gave glowing tributes towards Mr. Amory highlighting the legacy he has left behind.
