The St. Kitts and Nevis Medical Cannabis Authority (SKNMCA) has launched a new  “Responsible Use Campaign” nationwide. The initiative  is aimed towards educating the people across the island about the safe, lawful engagement and informing of Cannabis across the Federation. The campaign was launched on Wednesday 10, June 2026.

According to sources, the campaign was officially introduced by Nadiv Mills, the Chief Executive Officer of  St. Kitts and Nevis Medical Cannabis Authority on the morning show with G-Cue on ZIZ Radio. In the show he mentioned that it is their responsibility to educate people about Cannabis.

He explained that it is important that island individuals should know how to engage with cannabis legally and safely. He further stated that if someone is involved within the cannabis sector, then it is also the individual’s duty to do their assigned work correctly and make sure they are not putting themselves and others at risk.

He said, “Anyone who interacts with cannabis has a responsibility to themselves and to the public to do so safely and lawfully”. The Responsible Use Campaign covers both aspects of “safe” and “legal” aspects of the SKNMCA organisation vision through educating, interacting and guiding individuals.

The campaign is designed around four main core pillars first- Knowing Your Rights, second-Cannabinoid Science, third-Medical Oversight and Protection of Vulnerable Populations, and fourth- Moderation and Hygiene. Through the campaign SKNMCA wants to focus on strengthening public awareness regarding cannabis and to promote responsible behaviour.

Moreover, in the education area the campaign will run with the aim to protect the youth and to inform the community about responsible use of cannabis. According to sources, during the upcoming weeks the SKNMCA will schedule a series of thematic discussions which start from the citizens’ rights and responsibilities under the law.  Which further cover several cannabis topics including hygiene considerations, science, health and importantly broader social responsibilities.

In the show Nadiv Mills, the Chief Executive Officer SKNMCA mentioned the significance of the Cannabis Act 2020 and explained that the campaign’s main objective is to clear doubts and rumors in the islands towards cannabis. He said, “The Responsible Use Campaign is about clearing up misconceptions and guiding our people on a safe and legal path, this is more about public health, community respect and protecting our future”.
