The first Cabinet meeting of 2025 was held on January 13, 2025, that set the tone of progress, innovation, and commitment to help improve the well-being of the citizens and residents of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Cabinet Meeting began with blessings from Bishop Cyprian Williams who prayed for the safety, health, and togetherness of the cabinet and people of St Kitts and Nevis, which was followed by PM Terrance Drew’s New Year’s greetings.
PM Terrance Drew’s Address
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew further stated that St Kitts is now growing as a premier tourist destination with a remarkable 200 percent increase in visitors arriving to explore the island’s natural beauty and historic landmarks as compared to the previous years.
He also appreciated the security forces who made great efforts in keeping the public safe throughout the holiday season.
St Kitts and Nevis aims to achieve zero traffic accidents by 2030
A presentation was made and shown by the Attorney-General, Garth Wilkin, Chair of the International Sustainable Road Safety Committee, which was created to work on a mission to reduce traffic accidents and fatalities in St Kitts and Nevis to zero by 2030.
Furthermore, some urgent recommendations were presented for enhancing road safety like the construction of speed bumps in high-risk areas to avoid reckless driving and reduce vehicle speeds.
Legislative amendments were also proposed to start the implementation of automatic ticketing systems, enabling high-tech monitoring of speeding and red-light violations, along with stiffer penalties for traffic violations like increased fines, demerit point deductions and license suspensions for repeat offenders.
Moreover, enhanced road markings and upgraded signage at roundabouts were also suggested to help with the navigation.
The government will also conduct visits to traffic accident hot spots to check the conditions and implement urgent recommendations.

Update on Budget Boost Wallet (BBW) Programme
An update on the newly launched Budget Boost Wallet was provided by the Cabinet Secretary, Dr Marcus L Natta, who shared that this initiative was started to reduce the burden of global inflation on low and middle income households.
Over 22,000 residents registered themselves to get the benefit of this programme, underscoring St Kitts and Nevis’ government’s commitment in building a stable and growing economy.
