The twin island federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has been witnessing an alarming increase in criminal incidents. Knowing the increased number of incidents, the St Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SKNCIC) have expressed that they are alarmed by the spate of robberies over the last week.
In this regard, the incidents brought to the limelight included robbery at the Rams Supermarkets at Camps and Bird Rock on Saturday, August 12. The SKNCIC have expressed that they strongly condemn such criminal actions simultaneously. They encourage community cooperation to assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The St Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce recognizes the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment for businesses to operate effectively. A safe environment allows businesses to contribute to the local economy and provide essential goods and services to the community.
Representatives of the SKNCIC met with and with Police High Command on Monday, August 14, to discuss initiatives by both parties to strengthen the efforts to prevent such crimes. Both parties have entered a collaboration and decided to form a closer working relationship to come up with ways to mitigate the spread and impact of crime in our communities.
The SKNCIC has called upon the general public to provide any information that may aid law enforcement in apprehending those responsible for these acts.
Individuals who may have witnessed suspicious activities or have any information regarding the recent robberies must share this with the Police anonymously through the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 707 to ensure their safety and security.
Persons can also call the Basseterre Police Station at 465-2241. Cooperation from the community is crucial in ensuring that these criminals can get justice swiftly, reducing the incidence of such criminal activity.
The SKNCIC believes that taking swift action and the public’s full cooperation in this regard will help maintain the peace and prosperity of the country. We can protect our businesses and citizens from criminal activities by working together as a united community.
