The SKN Robotics Team, who represented St Kitts and Nevis at the first global Robotics Olympics held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 13 to 16 October 2022, had a very successful competition. The ten-member team was the first to represent St Kitts and Nevis on the global Platform.
The ten-member team consisted of Brandon Powell, Anthony Li, Michael Shaw, Dr Ricardo Neil, Patrina Perreira, Lakshya Sharma, Malyka Howell, and Zhavier Shaw and others.
The SKN Robotics team was a part of the St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association (SKNRA). The Organisation was very proud and excited about the accomplishments of the SKN Robotics Team.
Following the conclusion of the competition, The Association stated that the team’s performance is a testament that St Kitts and Nevis has the potential to be greater and a leading country in the Caribbean in science and research.
They stated, “We have students researching drones, humanoid, AI, networking, gaming, taking research topics from the United Nations sustainable goals.”
The youths and this organization have proven they are ready to be on the road of opportunity. Since 2017, we have been proving the impossible.
Therefore, SKNRA calls on all government and non-government organizations to invest in this STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programme in SKNRA.
The Organisation stated that the team and the nation’s youth are changed by competing in the FIRST Global Robotics competition. The students are now thinking of venturing into the area of engineering. We at SKNRA are proud to invest time and energy in the nation’s youth.
Dr Neil, The mentor of the SKN Robotics Team and founder of the SKNRA, has proven that St Kitts and Nevis has the potential to be a tech hub in the region through shared dedication.
The Organisation urged the people of St Kitts and Nevis to continue their support of the SKNRA. They stated, “By supporting SKNRA, we can expand the programme to students who cannot attend this global event.
