Political leaders and members of parliament in St Kitts and Nevis have extended their congratulations to the winners of the 25 Most Remarkable Teens Awards. These teenagers were awarded at a special parliamentary sitting on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. The members of parliament hosted the session at St Kitts Mariott Resort Royal Ballroom

Various Members of Parliament were in attendance at the special sitting. Among the leaders who rewarded the teens for their achievements were Dr Denzil Douglas, Dr Geoffery Hanley, PAM Leader Shawn K Richards, Former Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris, and Senator Dr Joyelle Clarke, among other members of the parliament.

Dr Geoffery Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, a Member of the federal parliament from Constituency #1, also attended the special sitting of the parliament. He got the chance to recognize and honour three remarkable teens from his Constituency, namely Malika Benjamin, Zahra Browne and Shakim Forbes.

He expressed that he beamed with pride to see them being honoured. Dr Hanley got the honour to present Malika Benjamin with the Academics and Spiritual Commitment Award, Zahra Browne with the Music and Entrepreneurship Award and Shakim Forbes with the Volunteerism Award.

His social media update expressed that it was “indeed a proud moment.”

Further, Dr Geoffery Hanley said he was honoured to extend heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE AWARDEES.

He believes they will continue to be courageous beacons of hope and ambassadors in their respective communities, our nation and the world.

The PAM Leader and one of the Members of Parliament, shared his experience attending the special parliamentary sitting, recognizing 25 Remarkable Teens. He wrote on his Facebook account:

25 Remarkable Teens were once more identified and celebrated by the Federal Parliament last evening, Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

Dr Geoffery Hanley expressed that he was privileged to be part of the ceremony that allowed me to meet and hear the outstanding achievements of these truly remarkable teens.

The honour was bestowed upon me to make presentations to two honorees, namely, Jahzara Claxton for Sports and Donell Francis for Spirit of Hope. Both individuals have earned my respect and admiration for their excellent accomplishments.

Former Prime Minister and Member of the parliament from Constituency #7, Timothy Harris, also got the opportunity to present an award to one of the teens. He shared his experience on social media with the words,

It was a pleasure to present a plaque to one of our 25 remarkable teens on the occasion of the Parliamentary session for the 25 Remarkable Teens of #stkittsandnevis

Tei Naaki Davis was awarded under the category “Courage to Overcome”. She has shown extraordinary resilience and positivity and has excelled in her school work, despite facing extenuating and traumatic circumstances.

The PLP Leader Believes that This award is well deserved.
