Chelsea sensation, Cole Palmer (21) has established his name as one of the most renowned footballers in the world. He plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for the England national team and Chelsea Premier League Club.
Despite being an English player or growing up in Wythenshawe in South Manchester, some of his relatives are living in St. Kitts and Nevis. While revealing his popularity in the Caribbean, his father Jermaine said that he will “need a police escort” if he ever visits the twin-island Federation to meet his family members.
Palmer’s grandfather, Sterry Cole has left the island Federation in 1960 and shifted to England. The footballer’s father expressed his pride that people in his home town is going crazy about Cole and called themselves as Chelsea fans.
He recalled the days when he visited his father’s cousins in St. Kitts and Nevis for the first time in January and observed that his son’s popularity was soaring all around the country.
“I went over for the first time in January and it was great. Speaking to my dad’s cousins who are still over there they said the island is going crazy about Cole. So, when he does go himself, he’s probably going to need a police escort! They’ re all Chelsea fans over there now,” added Palmer’s father.
Notably, Palmer paid a tribute to his family legacy on his boots, which have both the flags of England flag and the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Last summer, he left boyhood club Manchester City and joined the Blues for £42.5million. He has been a sensation since then, scoring four goals despite a penalty controversy against Everton on April 16 to move him level with Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
His performances at Stamford Bridge have also earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of this summer’s European Championship.
